Leo Joseph Sullivan, Jr. United States Marine Corps 16 July 1943 – 15 May 1967 Leo Joseph Sullivan, Jr. was born to Leo J. Sullivan Sr. and Mary E. Sullivan in Boston on July 16, 1943. As a Central Catholic High Graduate, Leo enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 11, 1965. Lance Corporal (L.Cpl.) Sullivan was assigned to D Company, 1st Battalion, and 3rd Marine Division. Sullivan proudly served our country in Vietnam as a Rifleman, during the first part of May the Battalion was participating on Operation Prairie in Vin Quang Tri Province and Company D was deployed at Con Tien in Gio Linh District. At 0245 hours on the morning of May 8, the perimeter at Con Tien came under a coordinated attack by the NVA. First a barrage of mortar fire hit the Marine defenders followed by a large scale ground assault. The attack lasted well into the morning until the enemy was repelled; losses were heavy for the defenders with forty-six men killed in action.

Sullivan lived at 22 Radford Lane. He graduated from English High School in 1962 and enlisted in the Marines after two years at Northeastern University.
