 Kevin Anthony Porter United States Army 18 November, 1941 – 21 November, 1967 Kevin Anthony Porter was born on November 18, 1941 in Boston. A resident of Jamaica Plain, he attended Suffolk University and married his wife Judith before joining the Armed Forces. On August 13, 1965, he enlisted in the United States Army, beginning his tour in Vietnam later that year on December 8. In Vietnam, he served as a First Lieutenant with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was well respected and looked up to by those around him. On November 21, 1967, while fighting in Binh Duong, Vietnam, Lieutenant Porter was killed in action by enemy fire. For his extraordinary sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. Kevin was survived by his wife and son and is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Mattapan. His name can be found, memorialized, on Panel 30E, Row 59 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Porter lived at 30 Roseway Street, Jamaica Plain.  His father, George, lived in Dorchester at the time of his son’s death.
