Melvin Irving Goldman Square

The intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Norfolk Street was designated as a Hero Square for PFC Melvin Irving Goldman.

PFC Melvin Irving Goldman lived at 620 Norfolk Street.  He attended Massachusetts State College and went to Princeton University in the A. S. T. P. (a program for junior officers and soldiers with technical skills) and was assigned to the infantry at Camp Carson, Colorado.  Hwas with Gen. Terry Allen’s 104th Timber Wolf Division.  He was killed at the aged of 22 on the drive on Cologne, February 25, 1945. See The Boston Globe, May 8, 1945.

The Boston Globe, on April 4, 1946, published a message from the family of a  Pfc Melvin Irving Goldman that states he died on April 4, 1945.
