Ronald William Shaller United States Marine Corps 5 October 1947 – 15 July 1968 Ronald William Shaller was born to Lester and Alice Shaller of Roxbury on October 5, 1947. Ronald showed his love and dedication to our country when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on August 22, 1966. Private First Class (PFC) Shaller was assigned to the 9th Marine Amphibious Brigade G Company 2nd Battalion 7th Marines. While serving in the Thua Thien Province of Vietnam PFC Shaller was killed in action on July 15, 1968, by an artillery rocket mortar. Ronald was survived by his parents, residents of Mattapan. He is buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mattapan.

Shaller lived at 1262 Blue Hill Avenue. The Boston Globe reported on July 22, 1968 that Shaller was killed in action on July 11 at Thau Thien.  He had only three more weeks of duty left in Vietnam.
