Jack Rabinovitz United States Marine Corps 4 September, 1945 – 23 February, 1966 Jack Rabinovitz was born on September 4, 1945 to Joseph and Reva Rabinovitz. As a resident of Dorchester, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April 4, 1963. In the Marines, he served as a Corporal and machine gunner with Company C, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division. On February 23, 1966, while serving in Quang Nam, Vietnam, Corporal Rabinovitz was fatally wounded when his amphibian tractor (AMTRAC) ran over a one hundred pound land mine. The incident ultimately also claimed the lives of eight other marines and wounded 22 men. For his sacrifice, Corporal Rabinovitz was awarded the Purple Heart. He was survived by his parents Joseph and Reva and is buried in the Koretzer Cemetery in West Roxbury. His name can be found, inscribed, on Panel 5E, Row 67 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Jack was survived by his parents.

Jack’s family lived in Brockton but had formerly lived in Dorchester.
