James W. Tolman was married on July 23, 1917 at his father’s home at 371 Talbot Avenue. He was a member of Troop D, 1st Massachusetts Cavalry.
The City Council passed an order in July 1921 to rescind naming the square at Talbot Avenue and Wickford Street for James W. Tolman and to name the square at Talbot and Lithgow Street for him instead.
