Lt John Komar was born in Dorchester. At 24 years of age, he was killed on July 18, 1956, in a crash while flying over Stromboli, Italy. A graduate of English High School in 1950, Komar was commissioned at Pensacola, Florida. He lived at London Bridge, Virginia, while attached to the U. S. S. Intrepid.
