Michael D. Burt United Stated Marine Corps 22 February 1947 – 1 June 1966 Michael David Burt was born on February 22, 1947. He resided on Newhall Place in Dorchester, MA. Michael displayed his love for our country when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on February 25, 1964. Private First Class (Pfc.) Burt proudly served in the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st MARDIV. On June 1, 1966 he was on patrol near Chu Lai, Vietnam hostile forces emerged, and while engaging the enemy, he was killed by a gunshot to the chest. For the heroism in his service to our country Pfc. Burt was awarded the Purple Heart. His body is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mattapan. Michael was survived by his mother, Margaret McWade.

 

Burt lived at 11 Newhall Street.  He was in Vietnam for less than two weeks when he died.
