Michael Xavier Sullivan United States Marine Corps 9 April 1949 – 8 February 1968 Michael Xavier Sullivan was born on April 9, 1949 in Boston. Michael showed his devotion and honor for our country by enlisting into the United States Marine Corps on June 22, 1966. Corporal (Cpl.) Sullivan was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, And L Company. Michael served our country proudly while fighting the enemy in the Vietnam War, until he was killed in action due to shots fired from a hand gun from the enemy on February 8, 1968. Sullivan was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice for our country as well as the Vietnam Service Medal. Michael is buried at New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan; he is survived by his mother, Rosemary McGillivray and three sisters, Rosemary, Kathleen and Joan all of Dorchester.
