Michael J. Ring Square

The intersection of Pleasant Street and Pearl Street was designated a Hero Square for Michael J. Ring.

Corporal Michael Ring lived at 48 Fuller Street.  Ring served in the Punitive Expedition into Mexico that the United States Government undertook in 1916 against Mexican Revolutionary leader Pancho Villa.

He was drowned in the Rio Grande on January 26, 1916, at Progreso, Texas, when American soldiers entered Mexico in an effort to rescue two companions.
