The intersection of Norfolk Street, Corbet Street and Nelson Stree was designated a Hero Square in 1919 or 1920 for Thomas J. Roberts.

Roberts was the first from Dorchester to be killed in World War I.   Corporal Thomas J. Roberts  lived at 105 Capen Street.  He attended the Robert Swan School, Roger Wolcott School and Dorchester High School.  He enlisted in April 1917 and went overseas in September.  He was mortally wounded in the Toul sector on April 7, 1918, and died in the hospital at Lorraine.
