Thomas Michael Casey, Jr. United States Navy / United States Marine Corps 6 July 1946 – 16 February 1969 Thomas Michael Casey, Jr. was born on July 6, 1946 to Thomas M. and Frances C. Casey. He called Milton, MA his home. Thomas was truly dedicated to serving our country. After being honorably discharged from the United States Navy on 6-22-67, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 11-20 of the same year. Lance Corporal (L/Cpl.) Casey proudly served as a Machine Gunner in the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV. On 2-16-69 Company D was fighting a large, North Vietnamese Army force in Quang Nam Province. L/Cpl. Casey launched an assault on the hostile bunker,and destroyed its emplacements with grenades. Still under fire, he then tended to several of the wounded. As he was approaching his fallen comrades he was killed by a gunshot. For the heroism he displayed L/Cpl. Casey was awarded the Navy Cross and the Purple Heart. Thomas was survived by his parents.

At the time of his death, Casey was from Milton, but he was formerly from Dorchester.
